What is Solid State Disk Destruction?

SSD destruction is the most effective way of permanently removing data from solid-state drives. The safest method combines certified data wiping with Blancco software, followed by physical destruction to ensure that all internal memory chips are rendered unusable.

This process is carried out at a certified facility, where powerful shredders grind the SSDs into tiny particles that can no longer be read, guaranteeing complete data erasure.

Key benefits of professional Hard Drive Destruction:

  • Total data security: Sensitive data is destroyed beyond recovery.
  • Compliant: Fully GDPR-compliant disposal, including a certificate for audits.
  • Sustainable: Responsible recycling of industrial waste to minimise environmental impact.

Choose from two SSD destruction options:

Certified SSD Data Wiping

  • On-site: We securely erase SSDs at your premises using Blancco’s certified software. All data is permanently deleted, the drives remain functional, and you receive a certificate of completion.
  • Off-site: Devices are transported to our secure facility, where certified wiping ensures complete data erasure. A compliance certificate is issued, and drives are returned ready for reuse or can be used towards buy-back.

Physical SSD Destruction

  • On-site: Using high-powered shredders, we physically destroy SSDs and their memory chips at your location. The process is irreversible, and a certificate of destruction is provided immediately.
  • Off-site: SSDs can be securely collected and transported to our certified facility for destruction. Powerful shredders grind the drives into particles beyond recovery, and you receive a full destruction certificate for your records.

    Frequently asked questions

    • How are SSDs securely destroyed?

Unlike traditional hard drives, SSDs store data across multiple chips. Secure SSD destruction involves physical shredding or pulverising the drives into pieces small enough that data cannot be recovered. Destruction through the Circular IT group is performed in line with DIN 66399 security level standards. We guarantee irretrievable data destruction.

    • Do I get a certificate of destruction?

Yes. After every destruction process, you will receive a certificate of destruction. This provides proof for compliance audits, including details such as the method used, the date, and optionally the serial numbers of the destroyed SSDs. Certificates ensure your organisation can demonstrate compliance with GDPR and disposal regulations.

    • What happens to SSD materials after destruction?

After SSDs are physically shredded, the material is sorted and recycled wherever possible. Metals and plastics are separated and sent to certified recycling partners. This ensures secure data destruction while supporting sustainability and circular IT practices, reducing environmental impact and avoiding landfill.

    • How much does SSD destruction cost?

Pricing for SSD destruction usually depends on volume, service type on-site or off-site. Costs can be calculated per drive or as part of a larger IT Asset Disposition service. We provide transparent quotes upfront, including secure logistics and a certificate of destruction. To request a quote, complete the form.

    • Can you destroy SSDs that are still inside laptops or servers?

Yes. Our team can collect and dismantle IT equipment such as laptops, desktops, and servers to remove the SSDs.
