The ITdonations Foundation is an initiative of Circular IT group and makes donating easy, transparent and secure.
Donate your hardwareIf your organisation is in the UK and has ten or more laptops, desktops, servers or other IT devices to give away, there are two routes with Circular IT group.
Donate the devices. We collect them, erase the data and issue a certificate for each device, refurbish them in the UK and pass them to a UK charity you choose. We use the same route ourselves: in 2026 Circular IT group refurbished and donated 24 laptops to The King’s Trust for young people in Newcastle who had no device of their own.
Donate the value. We buy the equipment and pay its residual value to a charity you name, and you receive a report showing what was donated and what it was worth.
Both routes are for organisations, not individuals, and both include UK GDPR-compliant data erasure with Blancco software.

We are committed to a world where we make conscious decisions about how we use technology. Even after we no longer need it ourselves. We are breaking the vicious circle of treating IT like a disposable product. Instead, we are making IT truly circular.

Pick up
We arrange a time to pick up your hardware and carefully log all assets. We remove all data 100% securely, issuing you with a certificate, and then we take it from there.
Hand over the documents
You then receive a detailed report showing which equipment you donated and what its residual value is.
Donate to charity
Finally, we arrange the payment to charity. You receive confirmation that your charity has received the donation.
Most of the equipment we refurbish for donation in the UK comes from two kinds of organisation.
Local councils and authorities. We collect the laptops and desktops their staff have finished with, wipe them securely and refurbish them to a good, fit-for-purpose standard. The council then donates the devices to community groups in its area, or we resell them and the council gives the residual value to groups in its constituency, such as food banks. Fife Council has done both with us.
Large organisations with their own foundation. We refurbish the company’s retired laptops and pass them to its foundation for its own programmes. Mace Construct did this with the Mace Foundation, whose Constructing Your Success programme helps young people with care experience into careers in construction.
We take a reuse-first approach: a device that still works goes to someone who needs it before it goes to recycling. Around 1.7 million UK households do not have a laptop, tablet or desktop computer, according to the UK government’s IT Reuse for Good Charter guidance, and every securely wiped, refurbished device provided free of charge closes part of that gap.
